Frank Allen Cassaro passed away suddenly on June 17, 2015 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born April 20, 1939, he was the son of Peter and Nina (Militello) Cassaro. He graduated from West High School in 1957, and then went in to the army for 3 years, 2 of which were spent in Germany. In 1967 he joined the Rockford Fire Department, where he was a dispatcher for 26 years. In 1990 Frank was promoted to dispatch service supervisor, and played a vital role in the implementation of the new 911 control center. Upon retirement he continued to work part time for the Rockford Airport police and fire, as well as Rockford University in safety and security. In January 1989 Frank married Joan Eytalis. Frank enjoyed many sports with his favorites being football, and golf. He was an avid and loyal Chicago Bears fan. Frank also enjoyed taking trips to Florida and Las Vegas. He was a member of the Venetian Club for several years. Frank was a genuine and kind man, and enjoyed being with his family and circle of special friends, many of whom he met at the Rockford Fire Department. Survivors include his brother Mike Cassaro, sister, Shirley (Fred) Jilderda, daughters Laura Cassaro, and Ann (Curt) Bauman; step children, Linda (Tod) Binkley, Amy (Bob) Meyers, Greg Eytalis; Tim (Marlene) Knox, and Cathy Spates. grandchildren, Vanessa (Dan) Bye, Eric Grinde, Mitchell (Paige) Binkley, Matthew Binkley, Christopher Eytalis, Gregory Eytalis, and Julia and Sarah Meyers; Four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and family friend Deb Bailey. Predeceased by his wife, Joan Cassaro, step-son John Eytalis, grandchildren Jamie Eytalis, and Evan Grinde, parents Nina and Pete Cassaro, and sister-in-law Sally Cassaro.
