Anthony J. Parrovechio, 94 PLANT CITY, Fla. – Anthony J. Parrovechio, 94, of Plant City passed away at 2:40 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, in South Florida Baptist Hospital, Plant City, after a short illness. Born April 13, 1916, in Rockford, Ill., to Frank and Rose (Governale) Parrovechio. Anthony graduated from Rockford Central High School in 1933. He worked as a lathe and press operator for Roper’s before being appointed to the Rockford Fire Dept. on Oct. 25, 1944, where he served for 33 years as a driver-engineer. Anthony was also known for many years as Perry Long, leader of the Rockford area big band favorite, Perry Long and his orchestra. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Mary Evelyn (Oliver) Parrovechio; sons, John Parrovechio of Santa Ana, Calif., and Charles (Elaine) Parrovechio of Rockford; stepdaughter, M. Lark Underwood of Plant City; sister, Lillian Orlett of Ridgecrest, Calif.; grandchildren, Kareen Oliveri, Jacqueline (Jeff) Stehley, Charles (Heather) Parrovechio, John Parrovechio, Kaitlin Parrovechio and Anthony Parrovechio; great-grandchildren, Adam Stehley (USMC), Kaarina Stehley, Katrina Oliveri, Natalie Oliveri, Cade Parrovechio, Sofie, Leah and Sidney Parrovechio. Predeceased by parents; newborn son, Frank; brothers, Sam and Benny Parrovechio; and sisters, Lena Alongi and Katie Howell.
