ARTHUR L. STEVENS, 89 LEAF RIVER – Arthur L. Stevens, 89, formerly of the Leaf River area, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Beloit (Wis.) Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 19, 1922, in Leaf River, son of Frank and Marie Thomas Stevens. He was a 1940 graduate of Leaf River High School. Arthur married Lola Mae Hoverland on Nov. 30, 1946, in North Grove Christian Church, Leaf River; she died in 1987. Arthur was a veteran of the ArmyAir Force, was a retired Rockford fireman, member of Firefighters Local 413, and was founder of the Morriston, Ark., Volunteer Fire Dept. Arthur also owned and operated Highland Park Campground on Cyclone Lake near Spooner, Wis., from 1971 to 1981. He was a 50-year member of the Rockford Masonic Lodge, member of the Tebala Shrine and a 32nd Degree Mason of the Freeport Consistory. Survivors include daughters, Linda (Jerry) Blakley of Beloit, Cynthia (Cameron) Linder of Rockford, Janet (James) Roberson of North Little Rock, Ark., Terry (Peter) Bengtson of Franklin, Wis., and Cherie (Donald) Larson of North Little Rock; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
