CHARLES ‘charlie’ PARROVECHIO SR., 63 ROCKFORD -Charles “Charlie” Parrovechio Sr., 63 of Rockford, passed away suddenly at 12:22 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011. He was born Feb. 14, 1948, in Rockford, son of Anthony J. and Frieda Parrovechio. He lived most of his life in Rockford. He married Elaine Ingrassia on June 8, 1968, in Rockford. He was employed as an arson investigator for the Rockford Fire Department for 21 years. Charlie was very active in starting the arson investigation program. After retiring from the Rockford Fire Department, he went on to have a successful career as a civil processor for the Winnebago County Sherriff’s Department. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. He was a member of Holy Family Church. Charlie graduated from Rockford East High School, where he was active in football, wrestling and track and field, holding the shot put record for many years. He then graduated from Rock Valley College with a degree in fire science, which he later taught. Survivors include wife, Elaine; son, Charles Jr. (Heather); daughter, Jacqueline (Jeff) Stehley; grandchildren, Adam (Meghan), Kaarina Stehley, Cade Parrovechio and Jackson Stehley; brother, John Parrovechio of California; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and cousins. Charlie was predeceased by parents; and brother, Frank Parrovechio.
