ELDEN F. RAASCH, 90 ROCKFORD – Elden F. Raasch, 90, of Rockford, IL died peacefully Tuesday, September 17, 2013, in his home. He was born May 30, 1923, in Rockford, IL; the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl O. and Ella M. (Bruhn) Raasch. Elden married the love of his life, Irene Peterson in Rockford, IL on May 6, 1944, and they enjoyed a wonderful life together for 64 years. Elden enlisted in the Signal Corp in WWII, afterwards he worked for Barber Colman. In 1950, he became the master mechanic for the Rockford Fire Department for 25 years. During retirement he enjoyed model railroading, was a member of National Model Railroad Association. Enjoyed traveling with Iren, his daughter and grandchildren. Member AM & AF Mason of Star in the East Lodge #166, Shriner’s where he was active in the beginning of the Shriner’s Drum and Bugle Corp. Survivors include daughter, Nancy (Bob) Tibbett; grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron. Predeceased by his parents; wife; and one brother, Gerald Raasch.
