GEORGE ‘BOB’ R. LENTZ, 75 ROCKFORD – George “Bob” R. Lentz, 75, died Thursday, January 30, 2014, at U.W. Hospital, Madison, Wis., surrounded by his loving family. Born September 28, 1938, in Freeport, Il. to Helen and George Lentz. He was a 1956 graduate of East High School. In 1958 he married JoAnne Peterson and together shared 56 years of marriage. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. George/ Bob was a firefighter and worked for the Rockford Fire Dept. as an engine driver for over 27 years, during that time he also worked for Rock Valley Brick and Supply. Bob loved vacationing with his family, fishing, golfing, bowling and many golfing trips to Florida, Minnesota and Iowa. “To all my golfing buddies, Windsock says, “Thanks for allowing me to be a part of the group.” It was a blast!” He was an amazing man who will be missed by many. Survivors include wife, JoAnne; children, Diane, Matthew, Peter (Amanda); granddaughter, Isla; sister-in-law, Char Mastrangeli; granddogs, Lily, Roo, Pepper and Maizy; cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; in-laws; sister-in-law, Linda Swanson; niece, Jody Knight.
