Richard “Dick” Kollberg, 90, of Rockford passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016. Dick was born January 3, 1926 in Rockford to parents Emerick and Alma Kollberg. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the pacific in the US Navy. He married his loving wife, Carolyn Lindsey on March 13, 1948. They enjoyed many wonderful trips together. His service continued as a Rockford Firefighter for 30 years. As a veteran, a highlight of his life was his trip to Washington DC with the Honor Flight Program. It was such an honor for all his family to welcome him home that night. He is our hero! Dick enjoyed golf (2 holes in one) and watching all sports, especially the Cubs! He will always be remembered for his love of family, service to others and his quiet personality.
Dick is survived by his wife of 68 years, Carolyn; son, Mike of Winnebago; daughter, Cindy (Rob) Remsen of Cherry Valley; grandchildren, Tim (Shelley) Remsen of Maple Park, Illinois, Tom (fiancé, Elise) of Rockford, Erik (Megan) Kollberg of Lusby, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Grace and Natalie Remsen and Linus Kollberg, also Robin Remsen, Laurie Remsen and Kristy (Mike) Provi, Spencer, Addy, Ella and Jordyn. A special thank you to his loving caregiver, Natalie. Predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
